MC at WordCamp Netherlands

Yesterday I had a chance to be the MC for the first time 🙂 I did a lot of emceeing for a lot of different events, but, never a WordCamp. Thank you, WordCamp Netherlands org team.

These are my notes on the all the speakers I had a pleasure to present to the audience.

Petya Raykovska

Oh, boy, am I happy for this next speaker. She is a Senior Project Manager at Human Made. A huge WordPress enthusiast, an active member of the WordPress community and is one of the WordPress Polyglots team leads. She co-organised WordCamp Europe 2014 and 2015 and led the team that organized WordCamp Europe 2016 in Vienna. I am just so happy to have her as my friend. Ladies and gents – Petya!

Luc Princen

Our next speaker works with WordPress a lot, although, there are some rumors that there was some other CMSs involved, but… 😛 He loves open source, elegant code, fast load times, barbecuing caveman meals and playing the occasional (grand) strategy game. The owner of the fanciest haircut in the house! Co-founder and lead developer at Chef du The Web. An online agency which specializes in a mix of design, development, and marketing communication. Let’s hear it for Luc!

Taeke Reijenga

WordPress professional and owner of Level Level, a full-service WordPress agency. He has over ten years experience in web development and working with WordPress since version 2.0, and if that isn’t cool, I don’t know what is. 🙂 Please a round of applause for Taeke!

Alain Schlesser

Our next speaker is a freelance software engineer and WordPress consultant living in Germany. Started out as a government agent working in Luxembourg, and has recently made the switch to self-employment. There were a numerous platforms and programming languages for the past 25 years, but now he is trying to settle down on modern web development with the WordPress. Ladies and gents – Alain!

Francesca Marano

Making WordPress things happen from Torino, Italy: Polyglots and Community team member, Meetup, and WordCamp organizer. WordPress professional, community junkie, business explorer. Founder of C+B, a blog for Italian female creative entrepreneurs, with an editorial staff offering daily advice to women who work on their own. One of the most passionate WordPress junkies I have ever met – Francesca!

John Blackbourn

Our next speaker is a WordPress core developer, a member of the WordPress security team, and he was the release lead for WordPress 4.1. He works as a Senior WordPress developer at Human Made in the UK. Ladies and gentlemen – John.

Pascal Birchler

I met this guy at WordCamp Switzerland back in 2014, when and I attended his talk. One of the youngest of us, but, don’t get fooled by his age because he contributes to WordPress by organizing local events and through direct core contributions. He’s been working with WordPress for years, and he’s involved with both the German-speaking and the international community. Received commit access to WordPress core after leading the embeds feature plugin included in WordPress 4.4. For 4.6 he helped polish Shiny Updates.

Sally Mayor

Our next speaker is a freelance copywriter and blog trainer. Working with some gigantic – and small – businesses, helping them find and communicate with their online audience in the best way. She uses WordPress to market herself and teaches other people about the wonders of blogging, so WordPress has played a significant role in her life. Please make a warm welcome for – Sally!
